In Burpengary East, a quiet kind of milestone is about to be reached.

On Maitland Road, nestled within a KDL estate, a purpose-built childcare centre is preparing for handover to its new tenant, Happy Hearts, and behind its thoughtful design and quality delivery is a team of builders and developers who believe in creating more than just homes.

This is the first childcare project from Ryse Construction, and it speaks volumes about where this builder is heading. Built in partnership with KDL Property Group and designed by Elevation Architecture’s specialist childcare team, this centre is a symbol of what’s possible when builders think beyond the block and put community first.

Why Ryse Is Building More Than Houses

For Ryse Construction, the goal has never been to be just another builder. From the beginning, the team has focused on delivering considered homes, and now, with this centre, they’re expanding that philosophy to include community infrastructure that genuinely supports families.

For some time now I have been very interested in providing these types of value add options for large scale residential developments, KDL and RYSE have been able deliver on point providing an excellent option for Childcare as a critical component of our responsible development program.” General Manager, Greg McGee said.

But as with all things Ryse, this project didn’t happen by chance. It came to life through partnership, between Ryse and KDL, between the design team and builder, and with the full involvement of the future tenant, Happy Hearts.

Building With Purpose, Together

The journey began with a vision: to bring early learning closer to home for young families in a growing estate. And thanks to the support of Happy Hearts, who committed early to leasing and operating the centre, the entire project was shaped with the end user in mind.

KDL and Ryse worked hand-in-hand from day one to ensure this wasn’t just another commercial build, but a thoughtful, functional and welcoming space tailored for the children and educators who will call it home.

And behind the scenes, one person made sure every detail was delivered with care: Kelly Allan. Tasked with estimating, coordinating suppliers, and project managing the entire build, Kelly took the lead in June 2024 and broke ground in November that same year.

The result is a facility that stands as a credit to the Ryse team, KDL, and Kelly herself.

“Kelly has surpassed our wildest dreams and expectations. She’s delivered a build that we are incredibly proud of, and one that reflects the quality, care and collaboration this project was founded on.”  April Williams, Operations Manager of Ryse Construction added.

A Place for Families, Led by Builders Who Care

In the coming weeks, Happy Hearts will complete its final certifications and fit-out. Soon after, the centre will be open to the community, offering a nurturing space for local children and a new layer of amenity within the estate.

But the story doesn’t end here.

This childcare centre is part of a larger community vision, with a medical centre and specialist rooms planned to commence construction on the remainder of the site in early 2026. It’s a continuation of the commitment KDL Property Group have made, not just to housing, but to building communities that work for real families and local areas.

And it’s also a clear signal to the broader industry that when developers, builders, tenants, and designers come together with purpose, we get better outcomes for everyone.

At The Good Builder, we believe this is what leadership looks like. And this project, from concept to handover, is a perfect example of building with heart.

We once again applaud the Ryse and KDL teams and their supplier partners and are looking forward to covering this momentous occasion this Thursday 25th September.
