The Sunshine Coast Convention Centre at Twin Waters was the place to be for tradies and builders last week, with over 1,130 attendees turning out for the 2025 Sunshine Mitre 10 Trade Event, their biggest and best yet.

This year’s event broke records in both attendance and supplier engagement, with 80 leading trade brands showcasing tools, materials, technology, and building solutions. With names like James Hardie, Makita, Hyne Timber, Dulux, Stanley FatMax, and DeWALT all present, the show floor was packed with insights, deals, and demonstrations.

But this wasn’t just a shopping trip.

“It’s more than just a trade show, it’s an opportunity for builders to get hands-on with the latest products, speak directly with suppliers, and build stronger networks that help their businesses,” said Aaron Ng, CEO of The Good Builder.

“Having the HIA, Master Builders Queensland, and the QBCC all there reinforces that this event isn’t just about sales, it’s a genuine opportunity for education, compliance insight, and staying sharp in a rapidly changing industry.”

The event wasn’t short on fun either, with over $50,000 in prizes up for grabs—including a $35,000 boat and $10,000 in cash—making the night one to remember. There were also pop-up shops from YETI and SafeStyle, plus a brand-new Kids Club offering activities from 4pm to 8pm, so families could get involved too.

Nick Brind, Head of Sales and Marketing at Sunshine Mitre 10 reflected on the event’s success,

“The support from the builder community for an event like this has been overwhelming and our best to date. It’s always good to give an opportunity for our partners to rub shoulders with each other, get educated on some new things, and have a bit of fun.”

While the beers were cold and the food was flowing, smart builders came prepared. A top tip? Bring your plans or upcoming project details and get quotes on the spot. Many suppliers offer exclusive deals or are open to starting conversations that can save you money or unlock better products for your build. We saw a few smart local builders do this and save considerably.

This year proved that showing up isn’t just about a good time (though it was), it’s also a chance to move your business forward.
