The Cook Government has announced a further boost to residential land supply in Albany, confirming the release of the first 20 lots in Stage 9 of the Oyster Harbour development at Bayonet Head.

The move forms part of a broader strategy to maintain consistent land supply across regional Western Australia while supporting social housing delivery and local economic activity.

Stage 9 will ultimately deliver 46 residential lots, with construction scheduled to commence later this year. Of those, seven lots have been reserved for social housing, reinforcing the Government’s commitment to improving housing access for vulnerable community members.

Land Release Details

The first 20 lots will be brought to market immediately, with civil works expected to begin in May 2026. Titles are anticipated to be issued in December 2026, allowing buyers time to plan and prepare their builds.

Lot sizes range from 510 square metres to 752 square metres, with pricing starting from $285,000. The remaining 19 lots within Stage 9 are expected to be released later this year to maintain a steady pipeline of residential land.

Planning and Lands and Housing and Works Minister John Carey said maintaining predictable land supply remains central to supporting both the building industry and community growth.

“Our focus remains on delivering a consistent supply of titled land to the market, supporting the building industry, and providing the foundation for new communities to thrive,” Minister Carey said.

He added that the Oyster Harbour lots provide an opportunity for families seeking a well-connected lifestyle in a natural setting.

“Albany has long been a desirable place to live, work, and play. Oyster Harbour and Clydesdale Park will continue to provide quality residential land for the foreseeable future that helps ensure the success of the region.”

The inclusion of seven social housing lots within Stage 9 reflects the Government’s broader approach of embedding affordable housing opportunities within new estates rather than separating them into standalone projects.

“A portion of our residential estates in Albany are reserved for social housing,” Minister Carey said. “This has a significant and positive impact for our community members in need of housing assistance and helps reduce homelessness in the region.”
