The Porsche Carrera Cup returned to South Australia over the weekend, with Round 5 held at The Bend Motorsport Park in Adelaide. For the MyConstruct team, it was a weekend of breakthrough success and hard lessons, with driver Brett Boulton claiming his first-ever Pro-Am race win before an unfortunate incident ended his charge in Race 3.
Strong Start in Qualifying
The weekend began positively, with Boulton putting the MyConstruct Porsche firmly in the mix during qualifying. Securing fourth on the grid, he signalled his intent to challenge the established frontrunners in the highly competitive Pro-Am field.
Qualifying at The Bend is no easy task. The 7.7-kilometre layout is Australia’s longest permanent racing circuit and tests every aspect of car and driver performance. From high-speed straights to technical corners, consistency is key, and Boulton delivered.
Breakthrough Victory in Race 2
Race 2 marked a career milestone for Boulton, who drove with confidence and precision to cross the line first in Pro-Am his maiden win in the category. It was a defining moment that rewarded both driver and team for their persistence and preparation across the season.
It was also one of the most exciting races for the season marred by several incidences in the opening minutes of the race.
The victory also reinforced MyConstruct’s presence in the paddock, with their Porsche proving it could mix it at the front of the Pro-Am field.
Heartbreak in Race 3
Motorsport can be cruel, and the celebrations of Race 2 were tempered by disappointment in the final outing. Contact on track left the MyConstruct Porsche with a damaged radiator, forcing Boulton into retirement.
While the DNF cost valuable points, the momentum from Race 2 ensures the team remains optimistic heading into the next round.
Looking Ahead
With a maiden Pro-Am win under his belt, Boulton and the MyConstruct Porsche have every reason to feel confident for the rest of the season. The combination of raw pace, resilience, and growing consistency shows they are genuine contenders at the sharp end of the Pro-Am field.
TGB Take
In both building and motorsport, success is rarely a straight line. The MyConstruct Porsche’s weekend at The Bend was a powerful reminder: breakthroughs often come alongside setbacks.
