When you’ve spent 25 years helping builders protect homes, you learn that real success isn’t just about products, it’s about people. That same spirit is taking Goop Guys beyond builds this August as they gear up for one of the Sunshine Coast’s most iconic charity events: the Dunga Derby Rally.

Running from 21–24 August, the Dunga Derby isn’t about speed or shiny race cars. It’s about resilience, generosity, and a willingness to go the distance for those who need it most. And for Goop Guys, it’s personal.

A Family on a Mission

In true Goop Guys style, this year’s rally entry isn’t just a team of mates, it’s family. Kirstee and Shane’s son, Jordan, and Kirstee’s 72-year-old mother, Loraine, will take on the rugged tracks of regional Queensland to raise funds for Rally for a Cause, a charity that supports local families facing life-limiting illnesses and financial hardship.

Why do it? For Kirstee, it’s simple:

Goop Guys purpose is to protect peoples futures- so whether that’s protecting surfaces or families it’s the same …. We do what we can to support people in times of need and face it, we all need something at some stage.

For Jordan, the rally isn’t just a challenge, it’s a statement.

I love the camaraderie of everyone getting together to help those less fortunate and we have a lot of fun as well over the 4 days. 

And then there’s Lorraine. At 72, she might be the oldest on the track, but her energy is infectious.

I have always wanted to do a charity run so when the opportunity to spend some quality time with my grandson and complete the Dunga came up I jumped at it. Fundraising has been a lot of fun and I’m excited to be a part of this charity event that supports local families

The team is joined by Sarah, who brings an organisational backbone (and plenty of laughs) to the effort.

We love watching their journey through the “unknown”, seeing the videos and hearing about activities happening everyday.

What’s the Dunga Derby?

Now in its 10th year, the Dunga Derby has become a cornerstone of community fundraising on the Fraser and Sunshine Coasts. It’s a four-day, off-road adventure through some of Queensland’s toughest and most scenic back roads, all done in vehicles worth less than $2,000. The goal isn’t to win…it’s to raise vital funds for families who need a helping hand.

Over the years, the event has raised millions to support hundreds of local families. For Goop Guys, joining the rally is about more than ticking a charity box, it’s about living out the values that have shaped their business since day one: care, community, and commitment.

How It Reflects What Goop Guys Are All About

Builders know the name Goop because it’s synonymous with protecting what matters most. From high-end kitchens to bathroom finishes, Goop has been saving builders from damage costs and headaches for decades. But beyond the product is a culture of responsibility, the same sense of responsibility that drives this team to give back.

Supporting the Dunga Derby is an extension of what Goop Guys have always done: solve problems and step up when it counts. Whether it’s protecting a builder’s reputation or helping a family through their hardest days, the principle is the same, care first.
