The Sydney Build Expo brought the energy, and then some for 2 BIG Days!
As the doors opened at ICC Sydney, the vibe was electric. Builders, designers, suppliers, engineers, and innovators swarmed the floors for another packed schedule of practical workshops, cutting-edge panels, and, most importantly, the conversations that are shaping the future of our industry.
A Panel That Cut Through the Noise
At The Tradie Hub, we hosted one of our most talked-about sessions yet:
“What Makes a Good Builder – A No B.S. Panel” — featuring:
- Kyle Zanetto from Zanetto Builders
- April Williams, Operations Manager at Ryse Construction
- Greg McGee, General Manager at Ryse Construction
From managing client expectations to integrating tech without losing the human touch, this panel got raw and real about what today’s builder needs to get right. The chat covered everything from delivering a standout customer experience, to keeping trades accountable, to how building companies can scale without sacrificing quality.
Let’s just say… no sugar-coating. Just straight-up insights from people in the thick of it every day…and the crowd loved it.
Industry Leaders & Sustainable Innovation
Day 2 wasn’t just about panels, it was about the people we met and the ideas that stuck with us.
We had some fantastic catch-ups with suppliers and manufacturers doing amazing things behind the scenes. Two standouts:
- Selection Steel, who continue to support builders with top-tier service and steel products.
- Morgan Sadler from Pliteq, whose work with recycled tyre rubber is reshaping what acoustic products can do. Seriously — turning waste into high-performance building materials? That’s the kind of innovation this industry needs more of.
What Else Was On
The conference agenda on May 8 delivered again with packed-out sessions, including:
- The Future of Women in Construction — highlighting leadership pathways and retention strategies for the next generation.
- Decarbonising the Built Environment — looking at how green building codes, low-carbon materials, and carbon reporting will shape compliance moving forward.
- Property & Construction Tech Innovation — where founders pitched tools already improving scheduling, estimating, and workforce comms.
- Marketing Masterclasses for contractors and trades — practical tips on standing out in a crowded market.
And across the halls, hands-on demos, live installs, and tech showcases kept the floors buzzing with activity all day.
That’s a Wrap…But We’re Just Getting Started
If you came for ideas, you left with a notebook full. If you came for connections, you walked away with new mates, new leads, and new collaborators. And if you missed it? Don’t stress.
We’ll be rolling out interviews, insights, and highlights from our chats with legends like Kyle, April, Greg, Morgan, and more across thegoodbuilder.com.au and our socials, so be sure to check them out!
