For Bribie Island local Ryan O’Leary, tiling isn’t just a trade – it’s in the blood. Growing up watching his father work, Ryan was fascinated by the precision and craftsmanship that could turn bare spaces into something special. That early inspiration eventually led him to follow in his dad’s footsteps, building a career that’s as much about pride as it is about skill.
Today, Ryan owns and runs Bribie Island Tiling, known across the region for quality work and a no-nonsense approach. From starting his own business on the island to working on his own beachfront home, complete with a tiled observation deck to watch the whales. Ryan’s journey reflects his love for both the craft and the community.
He’s seen the highs, faced the industry’s challenges head-on, and carries with him advice that’s as sharp as his workmanship: “Never do anything on a promise – and remember, a pound of bullshit is worth a tonne of brains.”
Away from the tools, Ryan has lived a life few would guess including owning a nightclub in Ios, Greece, where his now-wife worked behind the bar. These days, he’s more likely to be enjoying a Great Northern or a gin on Bribie than serving drinks in the Greek islands, but his passion for good work, good company, and good views hasn’t changed.
