Today, we’re pausing from the noise.

No market updates, no budget breakdowns, no commentary on approvals or the housing crisis.

Because this Sunday is reserved for something more important, the women who laid the first foundations for our lives: our mums.

In construction, we often talk about solid foundations. But long before we knew what a slab was, or ever picked up a set of plans, many of us were quietly built by the steady hands and unwavering presence of a mother.

For some, she packed your lunch and drove you to your apprenticeship interview. For others, like me, she raised you on her own in the “missing middle”, not just the part of the market left behind by policy, but the one’s that also do it solo. No spotlight, no shortcuts. Just shear grit, patience, and love.

That kind of upbringing doesn’t show up in the metrics. It shows up in your values.

It’s in how you get on with life, How you speak. How you show up when things go sideways.

At The Good Builder, we’re here to spotlight the character behind the craft. And today, it feels only right to recognise the quiet strength and care that helped shape so many of us into who we are, both on-site and off.

So whether you’re working today or taking a well-earned break, we hope you take a moment to say thanks…to the mum who backed you, built you, or simply believed in you before anyone else did.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums out there!
