Our nation’s home building industry is the backbone of this country and its economy. That’s why we started The Good Builder.
There is no doubt our industry has challenges, however the traditional media consistently paints a dire picture of insolvencies, delays and unaffordability.
The reality is that many in the industry are doing a bloody good job delivering well-built homes with consistently happy clients and running sustainable, profitable businesses.
We have launched The Good Builder to bring a balanced perspective to the news, information and conversations around home building.
We will be focusing on those who are doing something about the problems, finding solutions to the issues that the industry is facing.
Our hope is for this platform to become a community of thousands of builders and to ultimately provide a powerful platform to bring about the change that is required.
Our Mission
The Good Builder is on a mission to develop the most trusted and engaging news and information platform and community for the home building industry.
Who are we?
After a decade each in the industry, The Good Builder was founded by Peter Love, Aaron Ng and Jonathan Tibbits.
Peter Love – Co-Founder (Pete)
Pete was the General Manager of one of Australia’s largest home builders for six years, before starting his own business as a buyers’ advocate, building over 200 homes in five years across South East Queensland and working with over 20 builders to deliver them. Across this time he has seen most facets of the industry, the good, the bad, and the beautiful.
Aaron Ng – Co-Founder (Az)
Aaron has worked for some of the nation’s largest developers and home builders in the marketing arena, before founding one of QLD’s largest construction focused marketing agencies. He is passionate about all elements of marketing and customer experience across the industry.
Jonathan Tibbits – Co-founder – (JT)
Starting his career as a lawyer, JT transitioned into project management, compliance, and certification for companies throughout the industry supply chain in Australia and New Zealand. With international experience in sustainability and stakeholder communication, JT is passionate about innovation and building transparency and trust.
Richard – Founding Editor
Experienced writer, commentator and political advisor, Richard held a raft of journalism and editorial roles before taking executive communication roles for multiple Premiers, Chief Ministers and even NBN Co. He grew up in his father’s construction business and joins The Good Builder as its founding Editor.
What are we trying to achieve?
Our goal is to create a news website and community that will:
- Provide a balanced reporting on the industry,
- Showcase builders, trades and suppliers that are making an impact and overcoming the challenges
- Create no-bullshit conversations about how to improve our industry and move it forward.
As the platform grows, we will be looking to convene industry forums, and run events that will bring the industry together.
By doing this, it is our vision is to restore trust in the home-building industry.
Independence
The Good Builder is an independent news platform. We are agnostic across brands and seek to celebrate those who are making an impact, and raise conversations about the areas in which our industry needs to improve.
