A Pour That Represents Progress

This month, something quietly powerful is happening on site at Elridge Estate in Jimboomba: the 100th Biax slab will be poured.

It’s not a ribbon-cutting or a marketing stunt. It’s a working example of what happens when builders lean into innovation, back sustainability, and help the industry move forward — one project at a time.

At the centre of it is Ryse Construction, a team known not just for how they build, but how they lead. This milestone slab isn’t just another pour for Ryse. It’s a marker of momentum in the movement toward smarter, cleaner, more efficient construction.

Ryse Construction: The Builder Other Builders Look To

When it comes to high-performing construction teams in South East Queensland, Ryse Construction has earned its reputation the right way: by doing the work, building strong, and supporting others.

More than just delivering homes, Ryse has become a trusted name among suppliers, engineers, and even other builders for their willingness to share knowledge, test new systems, and invest in practical change.

At the heart of Ryse’s culture are Greg McGee and April Williams — a leadership duo who bring sharp operational focus and a deep sense of responsibility to the role they play in the broader construction industry.

Greg McGee, General Manager

Greg is known as a builder’s builder. With a background in managing high-output residential teams and delivering large-scale projects, he understands the pressures of margins, schedules, and regulation. But what sets him apart is his appetite for improvement.

He’s been a key advocate for trialling innovative systems like Biax, and sees Ryse as more than just a builder — but a platform to help educate the industry on smarter ways forward.

“Biax has been a positive environmental change that has had my interest for a number of years, searching for the best opportunity to deliver better build solutions, Jim Prior has been instrumental in communicating their progress and value. Now as a vibrant innovative Builder/Development business we have the best opportunity to deliver the best sites in the best estates while reducing our environmental footprint.”

April Williams, Operations Manager

April is the engine room behind Ryse’s clean systems, consistent delivery, and smooth coordination with suppliers and contractors. But she’s also a passionate voice for raising industry standards across the board — especially when it comes to site practice and waste reduction.

Whether it’s refining install methods, communicating clearly with site teams, or helping other builders understand how smarter systems can fit into their workflow, April brings both precision and purpose to every project she touches.

“This moment is so surreal, our 100th Biax slab delivered in our quality KDL Estates in just over 2 years, post our inception, honestly this is the stuff dreams are made of, careers defined and enormous value added to our product.”

April, Operations Manager Ryse Construction said.

Together, Greg and April represent a rare mix of commercial capability and industry stewardship — exactly the kind of leadership that creates lasting change.

The Biax System: Smarter From the Ground Up

The Biax slab system isn’t just about replacing waffle pods — it’s a complete rethink of how we pour slabs. Using patented, 100% recycled polypropylene void formers, Biax dramatically reduces the amount of concrete used without compromising strength, speed, or structural performance.

It’s leaner, greener, and safer on site, with zero EPS waste left behind.

And it’s not just theory. Biax has now been used across +7,500 slabs Australia-wide, with Ryse delivering the century milestone pour at Elridge Estate, a testament to the system’s scalability and effectiveness in real-world residential construction.

“No matter how much experience we had in the foundations space, we were always going to rely on a forward-thinking, early adopter to help us secure Biax into the Australian market. What a blessing to have Greg reach out to me when he did! The Ryse / Biax / RFL relationship has proven beyond doubt that every stakeholder can benefit from our technology and this occasion demonstrates this deliberately, and boldly!”

Mr Prior said.

The Bigger Picture: Sustainable Foundations Group

Alongside his leadership of Biax, Jim Prior co-founded the Sustainable Foundations Group. An industry body committed to educating builders, engineers, and councils about the environmental impacts of current slab systems and the alternatives available.

Councils like Wollongong have already taken action against EPS-based systems, and more are watching closely. Through education campaigns, site trials, and advocacy, the Sustainable Foundations Group is helping the industry move toward smarter, cleaner foundation choices, with Biax leading that shift.

Builders like Ryse aren’t just adopting these systems. They’re actively demonstrating how to integrate them into production workflows, creating proof points that others can follow.

This Isn’t Just About a Slab

It’s about a builder willing to back change.

A supplier willing to lead innovation.

And an industry that’s starting to listen.

The 100th Ryse Constructions Biax slab is being delivered by a team that doesn’t just build differently. They show others how to do it, too.

That’s how we shift the industry.

It’s how we raise the bar.

That’s Ryse.
