Day 1 is done — and what a brilliant way to kick things off.

The halls of ICC Sydney were packed from the start, buzzing with builders, tradies, suppliers, architects, and project managers from across the country. From keynote stages to workshop zones, product launches to live demos, this year’s Sydney Build Expo proved why it’s one of the most important dates on the construction calendar.

Insights, Innovation, and Industry Conversations

A major highlight of the day was the huge lineup of free-to-attend workshops and talks, designed specifically to spark ideas and answer the questions builders and businesses are asking right now. Some standout sessions included:

  • AI-Powered Project Management – showing how AI tools are reshaping workflows onsite and off.
  • Designing Tomorrow’s Homes – exploring smarter, more sustainable home designs for Australian conditions.
  • The Future of Sustainable Materials – looking at innovations in low-carbon products and smarter manufacturing.
  • Women in Construction Networking – a packed and passionate session celebrating female leadership and opportunities in the industry.

Whether you were there to see what’s new, compare tools and tech, or just ask a few pointed questions from the people who know their stuff — the access to expertise was next level.

For builders, expos like this aren’t just a day out of the office. They’re a way to stay sharp, stay competitive, and connect with the people who can help take your business forward — from suppliers and software developers to licensing bodies and future talent.

We were lucky enough to run into some amazing people too, including Greg McGee, April Williams, Dylan Lee, Morgan Sadler and the ever-insightful Julie-May Hardy. Interviews and highlights from those chats are coming soon on The Good Builder.

What’s Ahead for Day 2

If Day 1 set the tone, Day 2 is going to raise the bar.

There’s plenty still to come, including:

  • Tradie Talks at the Tradie Hub – real conversations for real builders, with practical takeaways you can implement straight away.
  • The Sydney Infrastructure Stage – tackling major transport, development, and housing challenges ahead.
  • Architect’s Hub – showcasing incredible design thinking and detailing from across Australia’s built environment.
  • Construction Skills Workshop Zone – with hands-on sessions for trades looking to upskill or try new tools and techniques.
  • The Main Stage – hosting conversations around the future of construction tech, government policy, and workforce trends.

And most importantly, we’ll be live on stage at 3PM at the Tradie Hub, chatting all things builder mindset, the future of good business, and how we can better support the people who power this industry every day. If you’re around, come say g’day and get involved.

Can’t Make It? We’ve Got You Covered.

Not in Sydney? No stress. We’ll be sharing interviews, key takeaways, and insights from across both days of the event right here on The Good Builder — so you can still stay in the loop and take some ideas back to your team.

Whether you’re a seasoned builder or just starting out, events like this remind us how big — and how close — the construction community really is.

Here’s to Day 2. Let’s finish strong.
