Two of rugby league’s most talked about names, Todd Carney and Mitchell Pearce, are taking their hardest won lessons and turning them into something much bigger than sport.

Together, they have launched Reboot Mindset Academy, a movement designed to help people rebuild confidence, restore purpose and take control of their lives again. It is not just for athletes. Their message is landing deeply with tradies, builders and business owners who know the grind, the pressure and the challenge of keeping your head straight when life throws a curveball.

Next week on The Good Builder Podcast, we will sit down with Todd and Mitch to talk about the power of starting over and why the greatest wins often come after the fall.

From the Field to the Real World

Between them, Carney and Pearce have lived every chapter of the classic sporting story: talent, triumph, controversy and redemption.

Todd Carney, once crowned the NRL’s best player with the Dally M Medal in 2010, was a natural playmaker whose skill could light up a stadium. But his career was marked by off field issues that ultimately saw him walk away from the game earlier than expected.

Mitchell Pearce, son of league great Wayne Pearce, made his debut for the Sydney Roosters at just 17, playing more than 300 first grade games and leading his team to the 2013 NRL Premiership. He was the definition of consistency and leadership, but like Todd, faced his own battles with scrutiny and public expectation.

Both men reached the top, and both came crashing down. But instead of staying defined by those moments, they have rebuilt themselves, drawing on the discipline of elite sport to create something that is helping others do the same.

Reboot Mindset Academy: A Practical Path to Change

At its core, Reboot Mindset Academy is not about reliving the past, it is about rewriting it.

The program is designed to help people reboot their habits, mindsets and daily routines. Through workshops, coaching and mentoring, Todd and Mitch guide participants to develop self awareness, accountability and discipline, the same traits that drive success on the field or on the job site.

They focus on three key pillars:

  • Mindset: Understanding how thoughts shape actions and outcomes.
  • Habits: Building daily systems that create long term consistency.
  • Purpose: Reconnecting with what truly matters and building from there.

It is a real, grounded approach built by two blokes who have lived it.

No corporate jargon. No textbook psychology. Just honest conversation, hard truths and the practical steps to help people get back on track.

Why It Matters to Builders and Trades

For anyone working in construction, Todd and Mitch’s message hits home. Builders and tradies face enormous pressure, from deadlines and physical strain to client demands and long hours that can eat away at mental health and personal balance.

Reboot Mindset Academy offers something refreshingly different, a space where people can reflect, refocus and find perspective. It is not about fixing anyone, it is about giving people the tools to fix their own trajectory.

As Todd puts it, “You cannot change the past, but you can choose what happens next. That is what rebooting is. It is taking responsibility and moving forward.”

And Mitch agrees: “Everyone gets tested, whether you are a footballer, a builder or a dad. The key is being able to reset, learn and show up again with purpose.”

The Reboot Conversation Coming Soon on The Good Builder Podcast

In our upcoming episode, we will go deep with Todd Carney and Mitchell Pearce to explore what rebooting really means, the raw moments that forced change, the lessons they now teach, and how they are helping others transform their lives.

We will unpack the habits that separate high performers from high pretenders, the power of culture, and how to stay grounded when everything feels like it is moving too fast.

Because in the end, whether you are laying bricks, running a business or chasing a dream, it is not about never falling. It is about what you build when you get back up.
